2018 has been a phenomenal year for pop’s favourite songwriters stepping out into their very own spotlight.
We’ve been treated to unique original music from the likes of Emily Warren, Ed Drewett, and MNEK, all of whom have made a name for themselves writing for everyone from The Chainsmokers to Dua Lipa, Olly Murs to The Vamps, Little Mix to Beyoncé. However, by releasing their own material they’ve managed to show another side to their musicality, proving exactly why they are such sought after artists in the industry.
Now, it’s the turn of writing/production duo MYKL – brothers Michael and Anthony Hannides, also known as MakeYouKnowLove – to put their own stamp on the music industry. Best known as the producers and co-writers behind ZAYN’s global smash album Mind Of Mine, including the number one single ‘Pillowtalk’, the duo recently released their very own single called ‘Vitamin’.
Armed with an 80’s synth pop vibe, ‘Vitamin’ combines an electro sound with slick RnB vocals which prove to be irresistible to the ear. Lyrically, the track tells the story of what it would be like if someone allowed themselves to fall in love.
Speaking about the track, MYKL said: “Why can’t we all talk about our insecurities, about sex, adventure, love, and being free with our feelings? Break boundaries. Break speakers.”
MYKL recently dropped the quirky music video for ‘Vitamin’, which perfectly captures the essence of the song. The visual begins with an inflatable character swiping through a dating site called Hinder to try and find love. After two awful attempts at dating, the inflatable soon ditches technology and catches the eye of another inflatable which kickstarts a blossoming relationship.
Throughout the visual, we see the inflatable characters go through all stages of a relationship, from romantic dates to getting intimate. We are even treated to the ultimate happy ending, but we’re not crying, you are. The visual emphasises the importance of allowing yourself to fall in love – you never know, the right person for you might be right under your nose rather than on the other end of a dating app.

We already know that MYKL are talented songwriters and producers but ‘Vitamin’ further proves why the duo are hot property in the music industry. They’ve created a captivating track with a feel good message, which stands out from a lot of today’s chart music.
With more new music on the way, we can’t wait for MYKL to continue taking their music to the next level.
