The way consumers listen to music is changing every day and now more than ever we are living in a playlist culture with musical genres and divisions constantly breaking down meaning artists can dabble in a number of styles with each release.
And the latest boyband on the scene New City are using this to their advantage as they release their debut single ‘Getting Closer’. The three members have vastly different musical influences and styles. But blending their musical brains often results in a variety of sounds, as it’s is never down to one guy to write the lyrics. They all contribute on every part of the songwriting process – from the drum parts, to the vocals, to the overall mix it’s 100% a group project.
Speaking about their major label debut ‘Getting Closer’,New City say: “Our new single, ‘Getting Closer’, is about breaking yourself down and putting everything on the table, but still feeling lost. It reflects on the ways in which we’ve found ourselves as a band, and our ability to talk about bigger topics. We initially wrote about our wants and desires, but our writing is beginning to reflect our purpose and what we’re looking for in the future”,
