With a renewal for the sixth season, “New Girl” becomes Fox’s longest-running live-action comedy. The network announced the news on Tuesday.
We couldn’t be happier!
The series, starring Zooey Deschanel, aired its 100th episode in March and with the renewal, it will be joining shows like “Bob’s Burgers,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Last Man on Earth,” “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons” that too have been renewed for successive seasons.
In a statement released by David Madden, the Fox entertainment president, he said,
“Every network comedy should aspire to what Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling. The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, we want to congratulate New Girl on reaching its milestone 100th episode and we can’t wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters’ lives.”
Zooey Deschanel took to Twitter to inform her fans about the news:

The high-rated comedy was pushed to midseason this year to help accommodate Deschanel’s pregnancy. It ties “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” with an average 2.0 rating among adults 18-49.
We would like to congratulate the whole cast of “New Girl” for this accomplishment. We just can’t wait for the fresh episodes!
