Like Phoenix, Poppy also rises from the ashes in her latest release “I Disagree”.
Poppy’s fans, her Poppyseeds, are being fed quite well this week: first, she revealed the cover art and release date for her upcoming third studio album. Now, she not only released the audio AND video for her second lead single but she also just dropped the pre-order link for her latest album. The pre-order lets fans choose between merch bundles (including a Poppy chain necklace) as well as a limited vinyl or the regular CD.
But first things first: Poppy’s latest release is titled “I Disagree”. The track reveals a frustrated Poppy to us: “I disagree with the way you continue to pressure me // I disagree with the way you are failing to pleasure me“, she scream-shouts, just before a heavy-hitting chorus, filled with dark guitar strings kicks in. “Down, let it all burn down // Burn it to the ground“, she sings. Unlike its predecessors “Concrete” or “Scary Mask”, her new song is almost purely metal. But, fear not, Poppy wouldn’t be Poppy if she didn’t manage to switch things up a little: a light and fairly uplifting pop verse is injected, just before the last chorus completely blows us and our speakers away.
“I Disagree” is probably Poppy’s most cohesive yet also her darkest song of her metal era. And we could not be any more excited about the rest of her album.

Poppy has also just released the accompanying video to “I Disagree”. It sees the singer and her Icky Babies have their way with lousy music executives.
Watch the video right here but be warned: Poppy’s actions are not as angelic as the cover of the video might suggest.
The singer is also going on tour with her label mates Bring Me The Horizon and Sleeping With Sirens, starting October 10th. You can still get tickets here.
