The news comes just days after Prince was rushed to hospital with flu. He was on a flight home from a show in Atlanta, Georgia when he was taken ill, forcing his private jet to make an emergency landing. Despite feeling unwell before the gig, like a true superstar, he insisted on performing and gave fans an incredible show.
Prince became a global superstar in the 80’s, selling over 100 million records during his lengthy career. Best known for songs such as ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Kiss’ and ‘When Doves Cry’, he also recorded over 30 albums over the years. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame.
