Rihanna has premiered her new single ‘Sledgehammer’.
The song, co-written by Sia, Jessie Shatkin and Ms. Fenty herself, is the lead single from the “Star Trek Beyond” film soundtrack.
Described as an emotional power ballad, Rihanna’s vocals shine as she sings of heartbreak and lost love. “I’m bracing for the pain and I am letting go / I’m using all my strength to get out of this hole.”
Announcing the song’s release on Instagram, Rihanna wrote “As a Star Trek fan, I am honoured to have the theme song for the new @StarTrekMovie! Hear #SLEDGEHAMMER now on @TIDAL and @itunes”
Rihanna has made no secret of her love for the ’Star Trek’ franchise. Earlier this year she teamed up with French fashion house Dior to design a futuristic sunglass collection inspired by LeVar Burton’s character Geordi La Forge from ’Star Trek: The Next Generation’.
