Following January’s triumphant return with Tove Styrke-powered ballad ‘Love Me Back‘, RITUAL, the producing and singer/songwriter trio are back with ‘Using’.
Co-written by songwriter to the stars Emily Warren, whose debut record featured in CelebMix’s best of 2018, ‘Using’ sees the RITUAL (Adam Midgley, Gerard O’Connell & Tomy Baxter) and Warren’s worlds collide spectacularly.
“Starting with my touch, your body, his bed, I heard you’re using again”, Warren coos alongside O’Connell’s vocals. “Using’ is about a moment of realisation, not only that you’ve been used by someone, but by someone who is a habitual user,” Midgley tells Wonderland Magazine. “It’s realising that this person you thought you shared a unique and real connection with actually just has a charm that makes everyone who meets them fall and feel the same. You’re all victims of the same hoax.”
Landing with a powerful music video with echoes of Back Mirror’s infamous ‘Nosedive’ episode, Cailin Russo is roped in to tell a story of false emotional connection.
The latest track from RITUAL’s Dreamers Never Learn project, ‘Using’ is another bold step from a trio with smooth pop break-up bangers at their fingertips. The group calling the project something “bigger than just us and something that we hope takes RITUAL from your favourite secret to your favourite symbol”, the future looks exciting for fans.
