Ross Lynch Plays Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer In New Teaser Trailer For ‘My Friend Dahmer’

Ross Lynch has gone from Disney star to serial killer for the upcoming movie ‘My Friend Dahmer’.

The first teaser trailer for the movie is captivating and a disturbing, as it follows the story of the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer before he became the killer he is known to be today. The trailer shows Ross Lynch as the shy, alcoholic Jeffrey, slumping through high school and throwing temperamental fits for his classmates’ own amusement, making himself a target for the bullies.

Although throughout the trailer, you can see clearly that Jeffrey is showing signs of being mentally ill, the doctor passes him as “healthy”, even as Jeffrey hints about his mind not being so healthy when he says, “what about what’s on a patient’s mind?”

That one sentence really stood out in the entire trailer. Mental Health is still such a taboo subject and if you don’t look like you’re ill on the outside then nobody cares about what’s going on inside. Of course, the doctor should have listened to that sentence a little carefully, as Jeffrey soon enough became a serial killer, when he killed 17 men and boys in the Midwest United States between 1978 and 1991 before being captured and incarcerated. This is the story before the story we all know today.

Ross Lynch didn’t know who Jeffrey Dahmer was when asked to take on the role, however, he knew the role would be incredibly unpredictable, as he is so known and loved for his role on Austin and Ally.

“Hopefully my next role could be something that most people won’t expect from me.” – Ross Lynch

The film also features Mad Men‘s Vincent Kartheiser as Dahmer’s doctor, Anne Heche as Dahmer’s mother and Alex Wolff in the “Derf” role.

After premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, My Friend Dahmer is expected to be released this year.
