This weekend Slam Dunk Festival 2019 will be taking over Leeds (Saturday 25th) and Hatfield (Sunday 26th). Set across nine stages the day festival offers everything from pop-punk to ska to everything in between promising a great day of music for all the music lovers in attendance. We’ll be heading to the South date on Sunday and here are six reasons we can’t wait for the weekend to roll around!
The new layouts make it feel like a proper festival.
Now, it’s hard to comment on North since it’s the first year at Temple Newsam Park but with South last year being an outdoor affair it meant the best (and worst) of the weather was enjoyed. A bigger site meant more space to get around the site without spending most of your day waiting to get into a cramped, small stage and we have a feeling Leeds this year will be just the same!
Musically there’s something for everyone.
Whether you’re into some great relaxing acoustic sets or fancy something a little heavier; you’re going to find something to suit your taste across one of the festivals many stages. Head to the Jägermeister stage for your metalcore fix of the day or if pop-punk is what you’re looking for this weekend then the Monster Energy stage has you covered. We have to also mention here that headliners All Time Low will be performing their only UK headline shows of the year at the festival, so be there or definitely miss out. Read more about the ten sets we can’t wait to watch here.
There are chances to meet your favourite acts at the signing tents
Another thing we love about Slam Dunk is their signing tents, at the Amazon Music tent this year you can meet the likes of Simple Plan and All Time Low whilst the Monster Energy X Kerrang! Radio stage sees Neck Deep, New Found Glory and As It Is meeting fans on site. Be sure to get there early to make sure you meet your faves! There’s also one more signing tent announcement so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on their Twitter…
The party doesn’t stop once the music finishes!
At North, the afterparty will be taking place at Leeds University right through til 3am but for everyone heading to South, there are two options for you to decide from. The Forum in Hatfield and in central London the O2 Academy Islington will be putting on an official London afterparty for the first time. After the headliners have finished Tek-One will be closing the North event with a DJ set and Modestep will be shutting down South in style.
Travel is covered regardless of where you’re coming from!
Big Green Coach will be putting on travel direct to the site from a selection of destinations to both the North and South Festival sites; for more details head here. If you’re heading to the North date of the festival you can also get shuttle buses from Leeds centre to the festival site and in Hatfield, the site is located next to the train station!
The mystery behind the secret set
This year’s secret set teasers are that the artist hasn’t played Slam Dunk Festival before and last time they were in the UK played arenas. We’ve got a couple of ideas of who it could be, but we’d love to hear yours! Send us your guesses on a postcard (or preferably in a tweet!). All will become clear on Saturday, but is it just us who isn’t very good at surprises?
Slam Dunk Festival 2019 takes place this weekend in Leeds and Hatfield. Tickets for both dates are still available from here.
