Bollywood actress Amy Jackson has officially been added to the season three cast of Supergirl, where she will play the reoccurring role of Saturn Girl.
Supergirl is among the many superhero-centered shows on the CW network, which focuses on the DC fictional universe inspired by the comic books. The character of Saturn Girl first made an appearance in 1958’s Adventure Comics #247. The character is known for founding the Legion of Super-Heroes, a superhero team in the 31st century that includes another prominent character – Superboy.
Saturn Girl, who also goes by the name Irma Ardeen, is described as being “a kind, smart, and strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need,” according to EW. Her name derives from the fact she was born on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons. In the CW show, she will arrive just in time to help Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) battle a powerful enemy.
While this marks Saturn Girl’s debut on Supergirl, this will not be the first time fans have seen her on a live-action TV show. Actress/singer Alexz Johnson portrayed the hero on the eighth season of Smallville, which was based on the DC Comics character Superman.
Jackson, who started her career as a model, has become one of India’s most-recognized leading ladies. Her role as Saturn Girl will mark the actress’ debut in the U.S.
The third season of Supergirl will premiere October 9 on the CW at 8 p.m. ET. You can watch the trailer for the new season below.
