It feels like decades have passed since, “The Disaster Artist,” was first announced so we are very pleased to report that the biographical comedy movie now has a distributor and an official release date which we are already eagerly counting down to.
That’s right, A24 have signed a deal with New Line Cinema to give the much anticipated movie a limited release on 1st December 2017 followed by a nationwide release on the week after and we’re totally not ashamed to admit that we already have the date marked down on our calendar along with a countdown on our phone and a mental note to make sure we buy our tickets as soon as they become available engraved into our memory.
“The Disaster Artist,” is based on actor Greg Sestero’s non-fiction book of the same name and it chronicles the making of the infamous 2003 film, “The Room,” which has long been a cult favourite. The upcoming movie depicts the friendship of Greg Sestero and Tommy Wiseau as they try to navigate through the world of film-making alongside life in general.
But despite the huge cult following that, “The Room,” received, it still only got lukewarm reviews and is often hailed as one of the worst movies ever made by established critics.
So with this in mind, the 2017 film promises to breathe new life into the story. And as well as getting a new life, “The Disaster Artist,” will undoubtedly gain new fans with its never-ending list of star power. The movie itself was directed and produced by James Franco and it is set to star almost everyone in Hollywood including his brother Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Josh Hutcherson, Sharon Stone, Hannibal Buress, Judd Apatow, Alison Brie and Bryan Cranston.
The picture below shows the Franco brothers dressed up for their roles in the movie, and to be honest that alone makes us want to hot-foot it to our local cinema the second it is released later this year.
Don’t they look awesome?!
We can’t wait to see this movie when it is released in December and after the standing ovation it received when it first premiered as a work-in-progress movie at the South by South West Film Festival back in March, we already know that we are going to love it.
