The first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has finally arrived online, driving fans wild for the new adventures of Newt Scamander and his friends.
The Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them first came about in 2016 and became an instant hit on the big screen.
Eddie Redmayne will be returning as the eccentric zoologist Newt Scamander who was last seen in New York, looking for his missing ‘fantastic beasts’ before he gets involved with stopping Grindelwald and his plan to take over the wizarding world.
The infamous dark wizard Grindelwald will be played by Johnny Depp which has been the subject of controversy amongst fans. This comes about after the actor’s divorce with Amber Heard stirred up accusations of physical and verbal abuse which led to fans protesting Depp’s involvement in the Fantastic Beasts series.
However, series author J.K. Rowling, director David Yates and Warner Bros have defended their choice to cast Depp as Grindelwald. Rowling was forced to defend the casting, saying she was “genuinely happy” to have Depp in the film.
Jude Law is set to step into Albus Dumbledore’s shoes and portray him as a young man who takes on Gellert Grindelwald. Katherine Waterston (Newt’s love interest Porpetina Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Newt’s muggle friend Jacob Kowalski) and Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone) are all returning for the sequel.
