“It’s a song about understanding love in a completely different way than you’re used to,” Porter says. “It’s a personal journey of learning to love yourself to the fullest by watching someone else love you to their absolute core. Through this process, you’ll recognize qualities about yourself that you never realized were lovable before.”

“Never Could” follows Porter’s debut single, “Deep Water,” which she performed on NBC’s The Voice in 2017. The debut track showcased Porter’s powerhouse vocals, which led her to win the tenth season of the competition show.
