The first official trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets has been released.
The sci-fi film, starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as Valerian and Laureline, is due to hit UK cinemas in Summer 2017. The all-star cast also includes Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, and Rihanna.
Valerian is directed by Luc Besson, who makes a highly anticipated and welcome return to the big screen following his 2014 film Lucy.
Film Synopsis
In the year 2740 Valerian and Laureline are special operatives for the government charged with maintaining order throughout the Universe.
Under orders from their commander, Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the galaxy. This great, historic city, is under attack by an unknown enemy. Valerian and Laureline must race against time to find the source of this evil and stop it before it destroys the cornerstone of our Universe.
The epic trailer combines the spectacular intergalactic universe with the ins and outs of Valerian and Laureline’s relationship. Keep an eye out for Rihanna, whose currently unnamed burlesque character makes a brief appearance in the trailer.
