After Justin Bieber took his third Carpool Karaoke drive this week, James Corden then welcomed vocal superstar Sia to accompany him on his way to work.
In true Carpool Karaoke style, the pair belted out some of Sia’s greatest hits, including ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Elastic Heart’, complete with some dance moves. She also slays a version of Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’.
Whilst Carpool Karaokes are renowned for being a lot of fun, we also learnt a bit more about Sia when James asked her why she keeps her face covered with a wig.
“I don’t wear this (wig) unless there’s cameras around. I only wear this just to try and maintain a modicum of privacy.” she said.
When asked to elaborate, she revealed a bit more of her past. “I was a singer already for like 10 or 11 years, to mediocre success, and I was an alcoholic and a drug addict and I sobered up and decided I didn’t want to be an artist anymore because I was starting to get a little bit famous and it was destabilizing in some way,” she said.
“So I thought, ‘What doesn’t exist in pop music at the moment?’ And it was, mystery. There’s pictures on Instagram of everyone at the dentist.” she continued, showing how she is different to a lot of other stars at the moment.
By the end of the Carpool, James dons his own Sia wig as the pair belt out ‘Alive’. He also makes Sia prove that she can carry a dozen eggs in both hands! The duo end with a powerful sing-a-long to ‘Titanium’ – Sia proves why she is one of the best female vocalists in the world.
