R&B artist, The Weeknd, made a significant donation to the Black Lives Matter Movement. The man behind “Cant’t Feel My Face” is 26-year-old Abel Tesfaye.
The Black Lives Matter movement advocates for justice towards the black community. It originated due to police brutality towards people of color. Some of the most recent acts of violence targeted Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Unfortunately, the two lost their lives at the hands of police. As a result, many celebrities, such as The Weeknd, spoke about the events.
enough is enough. it's time to stand up for this. we can either sit and watch, or do something about it. the time is now. #blacklivesmatter

Beyoncé is another supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement. At her concert in Glasgow, she asked for a moment of silence to honor the victims of police brutality. The screens on the stage then listed all of the victims’ names.
The news of a donation to the BLM movement comes just days after The Weeknd donated $50,000 to the University of Toronto. The singer-who is a Toronto Native of Ethiopian descent-is “sharing our brilliant and ancient history of Ethiopia” by funding a Ethiopian Studies Program.
