Alex Aiono has released the music video for his latest single, ‘Big Mistake’.
Directed by Mills Miller, the striking visual flips between shots of Alex stuck in a straight jacket and him dancing freely. During the scenes where he is in the straight jacket, we can see his frustration as he is trapped and struggling to break free.
In contrast, the scenes of Alex dancing represent his happiness and ability to move on from a relationship which has caused him a great deal of emotional distress. The visual cleverly represents the bad break up which inspired ‘Big Mistake’ and shows a great deal growth in terms of Alex’s sound and visual concept.
Speaking about the track and its video, Alex said: “I had a bad break up that inspired my writing the song, and it’s all about that emotional process. You get humbled, your heart hurts, and I wanted the ‘Big Mistake’ video to capture that frustration. The straight jacket seemed like the perfect metaphor. I’m dancing, I’m kinda losing it, and I’m trying to get over her but I feel like I can’t get out…until I did.”
