The debut EP from this rising artist starts off with the song “Pearl”, a soulful and rhythmic indie-pop-rock ballad that effortlessly showcases bryden’s incredible vocals before it transforms into a strong rock anthem. This initial track perfectly gives versatility and introduces the listener to who bryden is. Lyrically, the song delves into how something that appears divine can turn into something sinister, much like how this song starts off stripped back showing his soulful voice before becoming sinister in itself with the rock elements. This energy rolls into the second track, “Blood”, which was bryden’s debut single. It’s stripped back and has a more mainstream feel to it. “The Rites” EP ends with the track “Leap”, which centres on bryden’s incredible vocals wrapped around a subtler rock sound than we’ve heard in previous tracks whilst his lyrics touch on breaking free or sticking to what he knows. The backing track progresses more and more with an awesome instrumental section.
