We’re forever introducing you to some incredible talent here at CelebMix, and today is no different! Daecolm is a hot new UK artist, who you need to get acquainted with as soon as possible.

The artist was born in Zimbabwe, raised in London but also spent some of his teens in New Zealand. This is where he had his first taste of being a musical artist. At 16, he released a self-written and produced single in New Zealand, which went to number one.

Daecolm cites his father as his main inspiration for following a music career, with the two known for performing at family events and recording together. He is also influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men and Blackstreet, all of whom he listened to whilst growing up.

The multi-talented artist has also done a lot of production work, collaborating with the likes of Labrinth, Craig David, Krept & Konan and many more. Additionally, Daecolm has also featured on several tracks, including Brunelle’s ‘Let Me Love You’, and Feder’s ‘Back For More’.

2017 sees Daecolm launch his official debut single, and we’ve got a feeling that it’s going to be a roaring success. ‘Jungle’ is a slick blend of RnB, soul and pop, with an underlying dance vibe. Written by the singer with Detonate, who also produced the track, ‘Jungle’ proves to be an exciting introduction to the world of Daecolm. We were hooked after one listen, and we think you will be too.

Explaining the meaning of the track, Daecolm says: “For me, ‘Jungle’ is a metaphorical representation of what life is like for someone working to make their mark in a certain area of life which could mean different things to different people but for me it’s about being an up and coming artist and how I’m navigating that. Looking at the traits of the kings of the jungle, where the lion is the top of the food chain it is eat or be eaten, you are either the prey or the predator.  So it’s about going for what you want and giving it your all but doing it humbly at the same time.”

We’re excited to see what the rest of the year has in store for Daecolm as he firmly makes his mark on the music scene. Keep up to date with him on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Soundcloud.
