It’s been little under a month since Bill Skarsgard, son of actor Stellan and brother of actor Alexander, was confirmed as the man taking the mantle of Pennywise the Dancing Clown from Stephen King’s colossal horror novel “It”, but today Entertainment Weekly have shared the first images of the actor in full costume.

Pennywise, previously played by Tim Curry, could perhaps make more than one visit to Cinema Screens in the not-so-distant future, with current plans being for the 2017 film to be followed up by a second part, helmed by the same director; the first part will see a demonic entity that manifests itself as Pennywise haunting a group of kids, and the second film will see them return as adults to face their past, when Pennywise returns.

Speaking exclusively to Entertainment Weekly, Skarsgard commented on the noticeably different look his version of Pennywise has when compared to the previous iterations, saying“It’s important that we do something fresh and original for this one. It’s purposely not going toward that weird, greasy look”.

It has been a long time in the making, stuck in development hell for years before finding a director in Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation), and a star in Will Poulter, both of whom later dropped out.

The film will be directed by Andrés Muschietti, the director of the 2013 Horror Film Mama, and will only be the Argentinian Film Makers second feature film.

Part 1 of the film is expected in 2017, with no official plans or date in place for Part 2 as of yet.
