Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have confirmed the birth of their baby girl, Daisy Dove Bloom.
The exciting news was announced in a unique way and came through Unicef’s Instagram page as Katy and Orlando are Goodwill Ambassadors for the charitable organisation. Sharing an adorable black and white image of the pair holding Daisy’s hand, Unicef relayed that Katy and Orlando are “floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.”
In a lengthy message, the pair continued by acknowledging that not everyone is so lucky when it comes to their birthing experience, and used their platform to raise awareness and support for the charity.
“But we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. Since COVID-19 many more newborn lives are at risk because of the increased lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever.
“As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. A baby isn’t the only thing that Katy is delivering this week. The arrival of Daisy Dove Bloom comes just ahead of the release of Katy’s brand new album Smile, whilst a few days ago she also celebrated the tenth anniversary of her Teenage Dream album. Addressing her momentous week, Katy took to Twitter earlier to say “don’t f*ck with mama”.
