Mexican singer Juan Gabriel was no stranger to success. He sold over 100 million records worldwide and his fun, bubbly personality really set him apart from his other Latin American counterparts.
His death on August 28th, 2016 sent a wave of mourn and sadness across numerous Latin American countries. U.S president Barack Obama also sent his regards on the singer stating:
The recent death of this icon has prompted many fans and curious mind setters to search up and listen to his music.
On the global iTunes/Spotify rankings list, he is #2, right behind The Chainsmokers. His album Los Duo, is placed #17 on the U.S iTunes chart while dominating #1 in countries such as Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and Peru.
Songs ‘Hasta Que Te Conoci’, ‘Abrazame Muy Fuerte’, and ‘Querida’, have also risen to the top of many Latin American countries on iTunes and Spotify. Quietly so, he posthumously broke the record for having the most charting albums on iTunes in one country (Mexico) – over 32 albums to be exact.
While he may be gone from the world, his music will continue to prosper and extend into new generations to come. Our hearts go out to Juan’s family, friends, and fans as they mourn the loss of such a talented musician.
