Continuing to prep fans for the release of their debut solo project, Love Fame Tragedy have released their second single,“Backflip,” off the project’s forthcoming EP, I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really Good At It.
Matthew “Murph” Murphy — frontman and guitarist of The Wombats — has delivered the second single off his forthcoming EP.
I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really Good At It is scheduled for release on September 13 via Good Soldier Songs / AWAL Recordings.
This project also gets to see several other notable names in the credits including: Pixies’ Joey Santiago, Gus Unger-Hamilton of Alt-J, model and singer Maddi Jean Waterhouse, and former Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Chamberlain
“Backflip” manages to capture Murphy’s magic as a musician — his beautiful, compelling song-writing abilities and his complex vocals mesh to make a song that’s unbelievably fantastic.
Considering Murphy is the mastermind behind so many other magnificent songs, the differentness of this project only continues to prove his talent and wide musical range. And seeing as this is only the second song to be released off of the EP, we can’t wait to see what other projects, themes and genres Murphy delves into next.

We’re seriously surprised with how easily we found ourselves listening to the song over and over and over again. Although different from his work with The Wombats, “Backflip” isn’t too far off in the distance in terms of sound — the music seems to run parallel.
