Canadian pop-punk-rock-funk band (no really, they are all of that) Marianas Trench are headed to the UK and Europe for their first ever headlining tour there. The European Vacation Tour kicks off tonight, September 30, in Glasgow. The multi-platinum selling band is wildly successful in their homeland and have gathered quite the following on social media. They have no less than 200k followers on Twitter and 64 million views on YouTube.
Describing the band’s sound is a tough job. It’s reminiscent of 5 Seconds of Summer, but with more of an eighties vibe. It’s a bit of Michael Jackson, a bit of Walk The Moon, maybe even a bit of Muse at times. Most of all, it’s a lot of diverse influences brought together incredibly well. The band’s latest album Astoria is their most ambitious record to date: cinematic instrumental interludes seamlessly fade over into immensely well-produced songs, perfectly telling a coming-of-age story in powerful lyrics that are bold, relatable, and absolutely perfect to belt out at the top of your lungs.
Talking about the album, frontman Josh Ramsay says that it’s about “completely falling to pieces, and picking yourself back up again.” “We took the hardest two years of my life and made it into something beautiful” he adds.
If the band’s following statement is anything to go by, we’d say that they’re nearly as excited as we are for their first headlining shows on this side of the pond.
The Canadians are coming! The Canadians are coming! Duke Josh, Earl Ian, Viscount Mike and Baron Matt will be gracing you with their long overdue royal presence on the European Vacation Tour this fall. Bring a pack of crumpets and a winning attitude. We can’t wait to see you there!
The European Vacation Tour consists of ten shows across the UK and Europe and as said, kicks off tonight in Glasgow. After this tour, the band will head back to Canada for their The Last Crusade tour, which starts November 1st. You can find all info on upcoming tour dates and buy your tickets here.
