It has been confirmed by the creator of Pretty Little Liars that the show will end after Season 7. Marlene King spoke to Variety about the show’s future and said: “I think that this story when we’re back will end next year at the end of Season 7.” When asked if she definitely wants the show to end after Season 7, she replied: “Correct.” ABC Family, which is soon to be Freeform has not announced any plans for the show after Season 7.

In June 2014, it was announced that Pretty Little Liars was renewed for two more seasons. ABC Family prexy Tom Ascheim said: “Pretty Little Liars has taken its place in the zeitgeist and reigns supreme in pop culture. I am glad to bring another two seasons to our audience, because ‘A’ has a lot in store for our Liars.”

Even if Pretty Little Liars does end after Season 7, there is hope that there might be a movie one day. In October 2014, Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale told E! that there is a possibility of a Pretty Little Liars movie. She said: “Yeah, there’s like rumors of maybe a movie — there might be a movie, but seven seasons will definitely end the show.”

In August 2015, Marlene King told Variety that she was open to the idea of a Pretty Little Liars movie. She said: ”I think we’ll let the fans tell us what they want. We’re open to that.” King also appeared on Good Morning America last month and said: ”We’ve got some really big ideas for a great PLL movie, but that won’t happen right after the series ends. I think we’ll take a little break and let everybody go off and do a few things and hopefully we’ll come back together again and do something really special.”

Pretty Little Liars Season 6B premieres on January 12, 2016 on Freeform. Are you excited for the show to return? Leave a comment below or tweet us at @CelebMix! Also, if you want to find out what you can expect when the show returns, click here.
