Nearly eight years ago, a timid 12-year-old walked onto the audition stage of Britain’s Got Talent and stunned the nation by belting out his cover of ‘Feeling Good’. Now 19-years-old, Ronan Parke is back with his comeback single, ‘No Love (Like First Love)’, and it’s very, very impressive.
The new single has all the hallmarks of a successful release, but no-one saw just how good it would be. The teenager’s voice has matured a lot since his first steps in the industry, but the youthful power is still very much there, and it is glorious in ‘No Love (Like First Love)’.
For many, the name Ronan Parke may only ring bells as the boy from Britain’s Got Talent, but he has done so much more than that whilst growing up. His debut self-titled album featured a number of covers, as well as a Gary Barlow-written original song… oh, and how could we forget that iconic hoodie music video too!
He reflected on that debut record when talking to CelebMix earlier this year:
“My first album was predominately covers whereas this album is full of original songs and I have had such a huge role in the creative process of these songs. It’s been over 6 years since the release of my 1stalbum, so naturally the music has matured as I have.
“I feel incredibly passionate and proud of the music I have made and can’t wait for people to hear it!”
After that album came sporadic single releases. 2012’s ‘We Are Shooting Stars’ was, quite frankly, a pretty flawless pop track and 2013’s ‘Move’ was an incredibly sultry affair that showcased Parke’s growth. The last we heard from the youngster musically, apart from his popular covers on YouTube, was the single ‘Defined’ which stood up against bullying with a pertinent music video.
Parke’s love for musicals is no secret either, with his cover of ‘Never Enough’ from The Greatest Showman having racked up 245,000 views on YouTube. He also recently starred alongside Vicki Michelle in the pantomime of Aladdin in his Norwich home-town. Those influences do creep into ‘No Love (Like First Love)’, leading into an almost EDM-like dancefloor drop. However, he confirmed during a Twitter Q&A last night that he had no plans of moving into music theatre anytime soon, setting his music as his priority.
The popstar’s full album will drop later this year and a worldwide tour for 2019 has been announced too, although all the dates remain to be revealed. Parke revealed that the upcoming album “takes you on a journey and tells you a story” but is far from a one-genre effort. The 19-year-old also confirmed that a music video for the comeback single is on its way.
Wrapped the filming for the video this week! I cannot wait for you guys to see it! I’m definitely most proud of this one for sure! https://t.co/sddcPQGNn9
