Remember Sophia Grace, the internet sensation who rose to fame after covering Nicki Minaj’s ‘Superbass’ and appearing on The Ellen Show? The 15 year old British artist is back with her infectious new single ‘Number 1’.
Released independently, ‘Number 1’ sees Sophia team up with AJ X Deno. The track is a hypnotic pop anthem armed with a slick groove and infectious melody. The clever lyrics see Sophia compare a potential love interest with a song: “sing this melody, top the charts with me, we’ll be on repeat, we’ll go straight to number one.”
Speaking about the track, Sophia said: “I have never been so excited about a new song of mine because I feel like this is my ‘coming of age’ song and it’s a completely new sound for me. I feel like my music has matured as I’ve grown up and I want my supporters to enjoy this journey with me. As well as me singing it also features two up-and-coming rap artists who also give this song an older feel than my others.”

Sophia performed ‘Number 1’ live over the weekend at the CBBC Summer Social in Liverpool. She shared the stage with the likes of Mackenzie Ziegler, New Hope Club, Union J, Donel Mangena, Johnny Orlando and Max & Harvey.
‘Number 1’ follows on from Sophia’s previous tracks including ‘Best Friends’, ‘Why U Mad?’, ‘Girl In The Mirror’, and ‘Hollywood’. The track is her first original release in over a year and gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from her in the future.
