A day after the season 5 finale of the CW’s Arrow, actor Stephen Amell competed on the special celebrity edition of American Ninja Warrior. The TV special was part of NBC’s Red Nose Day, an initiative to raise funds for children in need.
After releasing a teaser of Amell on American Ninja Warrior last week, fans were left wondering whether the star would be taking on the salmon ladder – a contraption seen on Amell’s hit television show Arrow. Since he has endured athletic training for his role as the Green Arrow, it comes to no surprise that the actor flawlessly completed the six-obstacle course. Although many of the other celebrities on the show tagged in their trainers for the more difficult courses, Amell chose not to, and instead, his trainer Kacy Catanzaro watched on the sidelines cheering him on in support.
Everyone watching in the audience was clearly impressed with Amell’s performance, so much that host Matt Iseman compared Amell to the Flash when he quickly passed over the Block Run. The superhero references continued as host Akbar Gbaja-Biamila caught Amell’s attention in the middle of the course to “shoot” him with a bow and arrow.

After raising $30,000 for completing the entire course, Amell wished to keep going and insisted he complete the salmon ladder – a structure saved for more advanced competitors. Of course, fans in the audience cheered him on as he climbed up the five rungs of the ladder. He then moved on to the Swinging Pegboard, which is a brand new obstacle, but after thanking fans for watching the show, he let himself fall into the water below.
The actor raised a total of $35,000 for charity, $5,000 for each obstacle.
