#TBT – 10 of the best moments from HelloWorld 2017

2017 is coming to an end, so what better time to look back at one of the most talked about YouTuber events of the year?

This year saw the first ever HelloWorld take place at Birmingham’s Genting Arena. On both October 28 and 29, a whole host of your favourite YouTubers including Caspar Lee, Tyler Oakley, Jim Chapman, Joe Sugg, KSI, Oli White, Marcus Butler, Louise Pentland, Niki & Sammy, Rose and Rosie, Jake Mitchell, Zoella and Alfie Deyes took part in numerous fun activities during the live immersive experience.

With so many great moments over the course of the weekend, we’ve done the hard work for you and narrowed down ten of the very best. Sit back, relax and get ready to reminisce about HelloWorld 2017.

1. The Camper Van Entrance

When you’re putting on an event as big as HelloWorld, you’ve got to make a spectacular entrance right? Well, our fave YouTubers did not disappoint as five of them decided to push a VW camper van through the arena, as witnessed by 4000 avid fans!

2. Joe Sugg roaming around dressed as a cow

Did you meet a cow whilst at HelloWorld? Well it wasn’t just any old person roaming around Main Street. Oh no, it was only Mr Joe Sugg!

3. Busking bands

Not only were all our favourite YouTubers in attendance, but HelloWorld also delivered loads of live performances throughout the day. New Hope Club, Over Atlantic and The Shades were on hand to deliver performances on the Busking Beach, whilst also popping up here, there and everywhere.

4. Bakery Treats

This Morning’s resident baking star Juliet Sear swapped Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for the HelloWorld crowd for the weekend. Armed with her team, she baked over 12,000 cookies for the fans, with some help from the likes of Zoella, Lucy and Lydia, Katie Pix, Tom Daley and Rose and Rosie.

5. KSI

Did you catch KSI’s performance on stage? If so, then you’ll have witnessed his amazing opening visual. However, did you know that KSI actually filmed it the night before the first show? That’s right, he smashed the opening scene to his boxing ring walk on the first go before the backstage team edited it in time for him to go on stage.

6. Marcus and Louise’s duet

When you think of Marcus Butler and Louise Pentland, ‘singer’ will be one of the last words you’d associate with them. However, despite announcing that they can’t really sing, Marcus and Louise took to the HelloWorld stage to perform a duet for the packed arena. In one of the highlights of the show, they carried off the self-written and produced duet with guts, charm, and humour. Go Marcus and Louise!

I'm going to be a bit slushy now so get your vom bags out. This is @marcusbutler. A lot of you (probs all) will know him from YouTube and insta and all that business. I've known him for 5-6 years now and this is what I think. He's a really, REALLY good egg. He works hard, cares about what he does, cares about who it effects, cares about the people who support him. He's savvy. He plans for his future and doesn't take this crazy 'internet celeb' world to heart. He's very kind. We've spent 4 days together, rehearsed closely (potentially the worst/greatest song ever), shared a dressing room ('shall I put music on so I don't hear you pee??') and he's been chief wheel chair pusher since my pelvis half fell apart. We're not the kind of friends that say sentimental things, id rather to his face tell him his clothes look like they've been nibbled by rats or mock his cola challenge video but truly, he's a good boy with a very good heart and I wanted you all to know that. Here's to more years of friendship, adventure and him naming his first daughter after me because I'm so nice to him. ?????????????

7. The Vamps shut down the party

Whilst the HelloWorld attendees enjoyed plenty of performances during the day, The Vamps turned up to close the show and truly shut down the party. Performing a ten minute medley, Brad, James, Tristan and Connor were joined on stage by all of the cast. What a great party!

8. Tom Daley and Josh Pieters sliming each other

Tom Daley + Josh Pieters + slime + Oli White’s Very Slimey YouTube Gameshow Game = utter chaos.

9. School days

Who says learning needs to be boring? The likes of Oli White, Louise Pentland, Caspar Lee and Rose & Rosie were on hand to entertain fans at the school stage. With plenty of challenges and tutorials, the audience even learnt how to make slime!

10. Saffron Barker whipping KSI at StreetFighter

Watched by a huge crowd, Saffron Barker beat KSI at StreetFighter over at the Giant Arcade stage. However, both got so passionate about playing the game, that they managed to break the joysticks!
