You heard right, The Shannara Chronicles is returning. The trailer for season two was released on August 24, 2017. It states that the fantasy drama series will premiere on Wednesday, October 11, at 10pm ET/PT on Spike.

The second season takes place exactly one year after the end of the first season. Wil (played by Austin Butler) has turned his back on his destiny to become a magical healer, after losing Amberle (who was played by Poppy Drayton in the first season). However, he rejoins the fight after a mysterious woman named Mareth (played by Malese Jow), saves him from a Crimson attack.

What is a Crimson attack? The Crimson is an organisation that is hunting down magical users. They use fear and intimidation to influence people and cause conflict. The four lands are in chaos and the video reveals that there is a war to come.

The video also states: “When new evil is unleashed… New heroes will rise”. We also see that it is down to Wil, once again, who needs the sword of Shannara to defeat the darkness.

We have three new heroes, one of which says: “I didn’t ask for any of this” which is replied with: “Real humans never do”. This season looks like it’s going to be even better than the first – is that even possible?

Season Two of The Shannara Chronicles will debut on Wednesday, October 11, at 10pm ET/PT on Spike. The fantasy drama, created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, is based on the best-selling fantasy book series by Terry Brooks. The first season premiered on MTV in 2016.

Returning cast members of The Shannara Chronicles are Austin Butler as Wil; Ivana Baquero as Eretria; Manu Bennett as Allanon; Aaron Jakubenko as Ande; Marcus Vanco as Bandon. Many new cast members will appear in the second season, including Vanessa Morgan as Lyria; Malese Jow as Mareth; Gentry White as Garet; Caroline Chikezie as Queen Tamlin; and Desmond Chiam as General Riga.
