After an internal selection, Greek broadcaster ERT has announced Gianna Terzi as their representative for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. Gianna will perform in the first semi-final of the contest with the song “Oneiro mou” which translates as “My Dream”. The song is very powerful and we cannot wait to see it come to life on the Eurovision stage.
You can watch the official lyric video for “Oneiro mou” below:
Since their debut in 1974, Greece has only managed to win the contest once. This was back in 2005 with the fun and upbeat song “My Number One” performed by Helena Paparizou, which finished thirty-eight points ahead of second-placed Malta. The early 2000’s were an extremely successful time for Greece at the contest, with them also placing third on three occasions – in 2001, 2004 and 2008. As well as this, since the semi-finals begun, Greece has only failed to qualify for the final on one occasion. This was two years ago with the entry “Utopian Land” by Argo.
Gianna Terzi is no stranger to the music industry, having released several albums over the years. This should stand Greece in good stead to qualify for the grand final in Lisbon, however, they already have some tough competition. Other acts that have been announced so far are Sennek for Belgium, Saara Aalto for Finland, Waylon for the Netherlands, AISEL for Azerbaijan, Cesar Sampson for Austria, Jessica Mauboy for Australia, Eugent Bushpepa for Albania, Iriao for Georgia, Madame Monsieur for France, Julia Samoylova for Russia, Alfred & Amaia for Spain, Mikolas Josef for the Czech Republic, Ryan O’Shaughnessy for Ireland, Eleni Foureira for Cyprus, Christabelle for Malta, Zibbz for Switzerland, SuRie for the United Kingdom, Rasmussen for Denmark, Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro for Italy, Eye Cue for F.Y.R Macedonia, Franka for Croatia and Netta Barzilai for Israel.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be hosted at the Altice Arena, Lisbon, Portugal; with the two Semi-Finals taking place on 8 May and 10 May and the Grand Final taking place on 12 May. A total of 43 countries will compete in the contest.
