If you fancy kicking off your September with some new alt-pop goodness then Lights is the one for you! The Canadian songstress has announced her new album Skin&Earth is to be released on 22nd September via Warner Bros. Records.
Lights (yes, we can confirm that’s her legal name) released her debut album The Listening in 2009 and has since released two further albums Siberia and Little Machines. However, things are being done a little bit different with this release as a graphic novel has been released alongside the album.
Fans have already been treated to tracks taken from the album such as first taster ‘Giants’; flaunting an anthemic, beat driven chorus and promotional single ‘Skydiving’; a sassy, sensual effort showing two different sides to the album. Although the most recent addition to the released tracks has been the one received with the most excitement. Latest single ‘Savage’ features a very familiar face in the form of drummer Josh Dun from Twenty One Pilots and a video has since been released to accompany the fiery, heavier, drum led track.
The comic book series is solely the work of Lights written and illustrated by herself relating directly to songs on the album through each monthly chapter. With the intro issue released in May, the first printed issue of Skin&Earth was released in July through Dynamite Entertainment. If you’d like to read the correlating issue to Savage, issue 2 based upon the latest single is out now. Through the Giants video her fictional character En is brought to life, entwining her comic book series into her music even more closely whilst Skydiving gives a cinematic insight into the writing and illustrating behind the series. We are LOVING this concept!
You can pre-order Skin&Earth from here now ahead of its release date on the 22nd September and find out more about Lights at her Official Website.
