When a charity organization looks for ambassadors and partners – they look for someone kind, charitable, and with a large heart. So when the St. James Foundation Children of Courage were looking for ambassadors, it’s no surprise that they asked Louis Tomlinson.
The Yorkshire Children of Courage serves to recognize the incredible children from Yorkshire who are faced with adversity and strive to overcome it, not just for themselves, but to show others that the obstacles you face are never bigger than your courage. The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards started in 2011 with “small but significant” beginnings and has only grown more powerful each year.
In addition to the awards, the organization behind it deserves an incredible amount of credit as well. The St. James Place Foundation was set up in 1991, it has raised more than £46m which has then been sent to support good causes!
All the monies raised are matched pound for pound by the FTSE 100-listed St. James’s Place Wealth Management and there is a focus placed on donating to charities that support children and young adults.
It’s incredible to see an organization taking notice of the way children and young adults have come together to support one another and to make the lives of those around them better, even when their own lives have consisted of struggle and difficulty.
It comes as no surprise then that Louis jumped at the opportunity to be an ambassador for the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards. Louis comes from a charitable family and since One Direction was formed, he’s worked with a number of different organizations to enhance the lives of young people all across the world. He worked with charities as part of One Direction and has worked with several of them on his own accord too. He has heartwarming stories with The Eden Dora Trust, Harvey Hext (A Siblings Wish), and Believe in Magic – The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards will just be another way that he uses his circumstance to change the world for children, it’s incredible.
“Children & Yorkshire! Two things close to my heart. It was a very easy yes when I was kindly asked to be an ambassador for the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards. What these children achieve really is extraordinary, and I look forward to celebrating their bravery, generosity, selflessness and courage.”
Louis touches on the bravery, generosity, selflessness, and courage of the children, but we think his own bravery, generosity, selflessness, and courage are worth speaking about as well. He is always finding new ways to donate and express his compassion when it comes to charities, especially those involving children, and it is one of his most heart-warming qualities. We can’t wait to see what he does with this new venture!
The awards are October 14th of 2016 and until then, you can keep up with their organization through their Twitter and their webpage to find out more and to see how you can get involved too!
