The X Factor was back on our screens on Saturday and Sunday night, and it did not disappoint! With a lot of talent and some slightly, well, underwhelming voices, there was also a new judging line up – Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh. We look back at our Top 5 auditions from the weekend.

    1. Christian Burrows

19 year old Christian Burrows initially sang a cover of John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home’ – but Simon asked to hear one of Christian’s own original songs. He sang an incredibly emotional song dedicated to his brother who passed away when he was younger, which reduced Nicole to tears.

    2. Caitlyn Vanbeck

Caitlyn revealed that in the past, she had been bullied because of her singing and sang Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Piece By Piece,’ which also reduced Nicole to tears.

    3. Emily Middlemas

In 2014, Emily auditioned for the show and made it to Cheryl’s Judges Houses but Cheryl felt that Emily wasn’t ready. She auditioned again this year and covered Stevie Wonder’s ‘Master Blaster’ – with Simon saying that he was ‘beginning to know who Emily is’ and that he liked her more.

    4. Samantha Lavery

16 year old Samantha Lavery was striving not only to impress the judges, but also to impress her Grandad. She did an incredible rendition of Ellie Goulding’s song ‘Explosions,’ leaving a very good impression on the judges and sending her through to Bootcamp.

    5. Ryan Lawrie

Ryan sang a cover of The Vamps’ ‘Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart).’ Despite some people saying that he was experienced due to his performance at the Capital FM Summertime Ball as the Vodafone Future Breaker Act and having singles released in the past, a spokesperson has said that Ryan ‘is not a signed artist and has never had a record deal.’
