Frank Iero and the Patience Reveal New Details About Upcoming EP

Almost a year after releasing their second album Parachutes, Frank Iero and the Patience are getting ready to release new music with their upcoming EP Keep the Coffins Coming. The EP, which will have four tracks, is set to release on September 22nd through BMG/Vagrant Records.

Keep the Coffins Coming marks the group’s third project, after their debut album Stomachaches and sophomore album Parachutes. This time around, the group had the chance to work with the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey).

Frontman Frank Iero says that after the group was done touring Stomachaches, he talked to his manager, Paul, about what to do next. An idea Iero had was to collaborate with Steve Albini, a dream the singer had since he was eleven years old.

“I had my bucket list and one of the things on there was to work with Steve Albini,” Iero says. “Paul asked how long I’d wanted to work with Steve and I was like, ‘Since I was, like, 11!’ I wanted to make a Steve Albini record! Paul said he’d call him and I was like, ‘You can’t do that… that would be weird. Don’t do it.’ And he was like, ‘That’s my job!’”

Once his manager made the call, Albini agreed to do it, but said he was only available for three days, which made Iero immediately call a U-Haul and drive the band to Chicago.

On what it was like working with Albini, Iero said it was “awesome” because he had the chance to record an EP with not only his friends, but also one of his heroes.

“The EP is this missing link between Stomachaches and Parachutes. It’s everything I wanted it to be,” he says.

On their upcoming EP, fans may notice a name change on the cover art. For this release, the band will jokingly refer to themselves as FRANK IERO & ‘THE PATIENTS’ in light of their accident in Sydney, Australia last year.

Keep the Coffins Coming will be available to stream/purchase at digital retailers on release day (September 22nd). The band will stop in Europe for a few performances before heading back to the United States for their tour. You can check out their U.S. dates below, as well as their track listing for their EP.
