Week six of the X Factor live shows was dedicated to disco music and the top seven gave us a Saturday Night Fever. On Sunday night’s live results show it was revealed that Sam Lavery would be the one to go home this week.

Honouring Remembrance Sunday, the top seven started off the evening by singing ‘Rise Up’. Each contestant, except controversial rapper Honey G, was given a part of the beautiful song and their performance was moving.

Former The Wanted member Nathan Sykes then took the stage to perform his brand new single ‘Famous’. The 23-year-old singer once again proved to everyone that he has the voice of an actual angel.

Later in the show, 2009 X Factor finalist Olly Murs performed his single ‘Grow Up’ from his new album ’24 HRS’. The performance featured four adorable mini versions of the four judges.

During the results part of the show, it was revealed that Saara Alto, Matt Terry, 5 After Midnight, Honey G, and Emily Middlemas were safe and through to week seven. That meant that Simon Cowell’s act Sam Lavery and Nicole Scherzinger’s act Ryan Lawrie had to sing to survive.

Sam Lavery was the first one up with a rendition of Mary J. Blige’s number ‘No More Drama.’

Next, it was Ryan Lawrie who chose to sing ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’ by Oasis.

After their performances, it was the judges’ turn to decide who would be leaving the competition. Cowell and Scherzinger both chose to save their own acts. Louis Walsh decided to keep Lavery in the competition, citing the fact that he chose her as his wildcard for Cowell after the Six Chair Challenge. Sharon Osbourne was in conflict as to who she wanted to send home. She started out by saying that the act she was going to send home was because “he had been in the bottom three several times,” referencing to Lawrie. However, she then changed her mind and chose to send home Lavery which sent the decision to deadlock and gave the power to the public votes. The votes from the past 24 hours revealed that Lavery was the act with the fewest votes and she was therefore eliminated from the competition.
